Operating in an ethically and culturally sensitive manner, the Mind-Body Clinical Research Center fosters awareness, growth, and resiliency building during each step of the healing process.
Our team works closely with primary care and other healthcare providers to deliver integrative care. Our holistic clinical services are rooted in science-based research and include best practice treatment approaches to both the mind and body. Clinical services are available in both English and Spanish.
These approaches include:
- Cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for mood and anxiety disorders
- Mindfulness and relaxation training
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Behavioral medicine (e.g., smoking cessation, pain management, medication adherence)
Patients are also provided with a treatment workbook and between-session practice exercises to foster the development of skills.
Our clinical services include individual treatment and group-based treatment programs. Our group-based treatment programs include:
Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) Program
Developed at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, the goal of this program is to promote skills to achieve relaxation and connectedness to self and others by decreasing the physical, emotional, mental and behavioral effects of stress. (12 sessions)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Program
This program is most commonly used to treat borderline personality disorder, chronic suicidal thoughts and self-injurious behaviors, but is also effective for individuals with emotion regulation difficulties and depression. The “dialectical” piece focuses on the ability to take different viewpoints and create balance between one’s changing outlook and accepting situations as they are. The “behavioral” piece focuses on the ability to look at and understand behavior choices and learn new coping skills. (12 sessions)
Health Enhancement Program (HEP)
A behavioral health skills building treatment, this program addresses education, goal setting and behavioral skills for improving health behaviors including sleep, nutrition, exercise, substance use and healthcare management. (12 sessions)
Comprehensive Smoking Cessation Program
This program is designed to help individuals quit smoking and to manage negative emotions and/or pain without cigarettes. Learning how to apply skills to quit and remain smoke free is the goal of this program. It incorporates standard therapeutic skills for quitting smoking with enhanced cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) and relaxation training to manage anxiety/stress/depression and/or pain experiences. Nicotine replacement therapy is also encouraged as part of this program.
