DRS. GERBER AND WOO NAMED NEW YORK MAGAZINE'S "BEST DOCTORS 2014"
For the past sixteen years, Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a nationally respected research and information company that publishes the annual guidebook, Top Doctors: New York Metro Area, has been providing New York Magazine with a shorter version of this list for the magazine's "Best Doctors" issue. The 1,251 doctors listed in the 2014 issue represent those whom Castle Connolly has determined to be among the top 10 percent of the region's physicians.
DRS. COYLE AND POMEROY NAMED AMONG TOP 1% OF PHYSICIANS IN UNITED STATES (2014)
Castle Connolly Ltd, a nationally respected research and information company has recognized Patricia Coyle, MD, and John C. Pomeroy, MD, of Stony Brook University's Neurosciences Institute in its 13th edition (2014) guide, America's Top Doctors®. This recognition is the result of an extensive nomination process open to all licensed physicians in the United States. A physician-led research team reviews and screens all nominated physicians before selecting those most outstanding to be Top Doctors. Physicians do not and cannot pay to be selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.

STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL RECEIVED THE GOLD PLUS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD HOSPITAL FOR THE "GET WITH GUIDELINES -- STROKE" PROGRAM, SEPTEMBER 2012 TO SEPTEMBER 2013.
The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12 month intervals and at least 12 consecutive months of 75% or higher compliance with 5 or more Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Quality measures to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.

Stony Brook University Physicians congratulates the physicians selected for inclusion in the 14th annual edition of New York Magazine's Best Doctors list. We are proud of Dr. Mary R. Andriola and Dr. Henry Woo from the Neurosciences Institute. Together with all of our dedicated professionals, they remain committed to excellence in patient care and clinical practice.
STROKE
We are a public health-certified stroke center and one of only two certified as primary stroke centers in Suffolk County by The Joint Commission (TJC). In addition, we are the only institution in the county offering endovascular treatment for stroke, 24-hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week.
NEUROMUSCULAR DISEASE AND ALS
Our ALS Comprehensive Care Center -- the only one of its kind on Long Island -- was certified by the ALS Association as its 34th Center of Excellence in the nation.
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Comprehensive Care Center is accredited by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Our Pediatric MS Center is one of six in the nation designated as a center of excellence by the National MS Society.
SLEEP DISORDERS
Our Sleep Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and The Joint Commission.
CANCER
SBUH received full three-year accreditation by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer as a Teaching Hospital Level Accredited Cancer Program for 2008 through 2011, and also earned the Commission on Cancer's Outstanding Achievement Award.
