Neurosurgery Spine Center
The Neurosurgery Spine Center, with its three convenient outpatient locations in Commack, East Setauket and Riverhead, is the premier center on Long Island for back and neck spinal disease.
As part of an academic medical center that offers advanced levels of medicine that are highly specialized and not widely accessible, we serve as the go-to spine center for community physicians and other specialists in our region who have complicated spine cases and seek advanced care for their patients.
At the Stony Brook Neurosurgery Spine Center, we offer medical therapies, customized physical therapy programs, spinal injections, and the latest minimally invasive and open surgical techniques and other advanced surgical intervention approaches to provide you with safe, proven and ethical care.
Minimally invasive techniques are often preferred, as they typically reduce pain, complications and infection risk. Our team of dedicated physicians will work with you each step of the way on an optimal therapeutic plan.
Our Team
Led by the Chair of Neurosurgery, Dr. Raphael Davis, our team of exceptional neurosurgeons and physiatrists work together to create patient-guided treatment plans.
Adult Spine Surgery
Our center has long had a reputation for expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex spine disease. This includes spinal stenosis, degenerative disease, tumors, trauma, revision surgery, deformity and scoliosis. In addition, we provide the latest minimally invasive techniques to improve patient care.
Pediatric Neurosurgery
The Stony Brook Neurosurgery Spine Center is also the only practice in Suffolk County with two full-time pediatric neurosurgeons. For infants, children and young adults with neurological disorders of the spine, our pediatric neurosurgeons will work with you and your child's pediatrician to help determine the most appropriate care for your child.
Physiatry
Our board-certified physiatrists (also known as physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians) will work with you on a non-surgical treatment plan when it's determined to be the best course of action. Your non-surgical treatment plan may include physical therapy, an exercise regimen or fluoroscopically-guided steroid injections.
Research and Education
Our team is also active with both research and education outreach to community physicians. If surgery is decided upon, our surgical schedulers and physician assistants will work with you to make your patient experience a safe and effective one.
