Run 4 Miles to Support Parkinson’s Research
Dates: Aug. 30 — Sept.  1, 2024
Location: Green Street Eatery, l7 Emerson Avenue, Levittown (start/finish line)

During Labor Day weekend, be part of an inspiring journey as Wai Law takes on his fourth charity run to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease research. From Aug. 30 to Sept. 1, Wai will tackle a remarkable 200-mile challenge, running a 4-mile loop 50 times in just 48 hours. Wai’s mission will support Stony Brook’s Thomas Hartman Center for Parkinson’s Research. The center, established in 2013, is dedicated to uncovering new insights and developing innovative treatments for Parkinson’s disease. Join Wai in this monumental effort, where your involvement will make a difference. Your participation and donations will not only motivate Wai but also help fund critical research. You can show your support in the following ways: Join the challenge by running a loop or two. Cheer on Wai as he completes each loop. Urban Zen Integrative Therapy: Parkinson's Care Partner Seated Class Series
Urban Zen Integrative Therapy seated class for care partners combines Mindful Movement, Breath awareness Meditation, Restorative Yoga, Reiki and Essential Oils to help promote healing and relaxation. Each class in this four-week virtual series begins with a brief discussion of particular modality and empowers you with tools to help bring them into your daily life. The Urban Zen session includes gentle movements and breath work done seated in a chair. The class will then conclude with a meditation for grounding. Classes are offered through Zoom.

Huntington's Disease Clinic: Virtual Mindful Stretching Classes
This virtual series of classes will utilize a mixture of postures from mindul stretches, teaching you the tools that cumulatively provides a safe environment, relaxation, and healthy lifestyle. You don't need to bend like a pretzel or even get on the floor. All you need is a chair and comfortable clothing. Linda Esposito has been teaching from the heart with the goal of creating a community for those who attend her classes. Linda has over 10 years experience, is a registered YACEP/E-RYT 500 hour teacher with Yoga Alliance and holds several certifications.

Parkinson's Foundation Long Island Moving Day
Join us at the Long Island Moving Day to honor loved ones with Parkinson's disease, raise awareness, and celebrate movement. This event is a great opportunity to unite and provide support to those diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, their care givers, family members and friends. Together we are able to bring education, resources and support to our Parkinson's community. This event will be held on October 7, 9am at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay.

Huntington's Disease Awareness Month Symposium
We know how valuable it is for those living with Huntington's disease and their caregivers to come together to gain strength from shared experiences. It was our pleasure to present this live virtual event to you in the comfort of your home to gain information and resources to assist you and your loved ones in navigating appropriate care. We are pleased to offer presentations from our Stony Brook Huntington's disease Center of Excellence clinicians, family representative and the Northeast representative from the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
