The Residency and Fellowship Training Programs within Stony Brook University Neurosciences Institute provide challenging but supportive educational experiences that prepare graduates to practice in a variety of clinical and academic settings.
Our Neurosciences Institute is the regional leader in diagnosing and treating the full range of brain, neurological and psychiatric disorders in adults and children. We bring the expertise of renowned specialists together with the use of sophisticated technology to deliver high-quality, disease-specific care to our patients and their families. The Institute features 10 comprehensive centers as well as clinical support services, and more than 70 research laboratories dedicated to the study of various neurological disorders and diseases. As a tertiary care center, we also serve as the “go to” referral medical facility for community physicians and other specialists in the region who have complicated cases and seek advanced care for their patients.
Stony Brook is uniquely situated in suburban Suffolk County, Long Island, offering a diverse patient population in a peaceful and beautiful New England setting, while also being within a short driving distance of Manhattan. Stony Brook Medicine is the county's only academic medical center, only Level 1 trauma center, a primary stroke center, and provides the only Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program on Long Island. We serve patients from a wide variety of backgrounds in inpatient, outpatient and emergency room settings.
