The Stony Brook Difference
Our pediatric neurologists, pediatric neurosurgeons, child psychiatrists, and child psychologists have the expertise to provide specialized care for infants, toddlers, and adolescents. We specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of pediatric neurological disorders, such as hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, brain and spine tumors, craniosynostosis, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy; and medical and behavior modification therapies for behavioral disorders such as depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism. Essential to the follow-up care for neurotrauma and serious head injuries is our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The Pediatric ICU is the only Pediatric-specific ICU in Suffolk County with pediatric surgery coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As part of Stony Brook's dedication to the care of the children and adolescents of Long Island, Stony Brook Children's Hospital is the only children's hospital west of the Nassau/Queens border offering state-of-the-art technology and world-class physicians, nurses, and medical researchers working in collaboration to promote the health and well-being of Long Island's children and adolescents.
